The proof of the pudding is in the eating! CMA CGM is a global leader in transport & logistics and certainly well known for its large container ships. Leading the Belgian division is CEO, Patrick Kockx and his executive team. The challenge? Going from good to great! To proactively strengthen and make the management team, with its expertise and diversity, even more cohesive.

“Hi Patrick, you started a Lencioni track in spring 2023, why?”

“Our executive team is a new team. Everyone knows each other, but there are a few new members since last year. I noticed that they mainly worked for and in their department, but the management team itself was not seen as a team. Therefor we were looking for a good way to make this, already strong team, even more strong. Resistant to the challenges of our industry.”

“Why did you think of Patrick Lencioni’s methodology and model?”

“Our HR manager had come into contact with Lencioni in the past and was able to pass along that Lencioni works around healthy teams. After looking at the model myself, I recognized some things. ”

“Can you tell something about the approach and modus operandi of the trajectory?”

“On the kick-off day, we really worked around the first layer of ‘trust.’ You think you know people, yet we still found out a lot about each other. Within a safe environment, everyone was able to be very open, honest and vulnerable. Afterwards, we worked another 4 half days around the other layers of the Lencioni pyramid. Each time we did specific exercises, guided by the Trixolutions facilitator. Between sessions, we continued working on agreed upon action items to land specifics and make them workable in our daily practice as an executive team.”

“What positive consequences and impact do you notice?”

“Our executive team is now a close-knit and real team. Problems are often discussed and resolved among themselves, without going through me or being escalated to me.”

“Nevertheless, are there any areas of concern?”

“Our executive team will change again somewhat in the future. We will have to make sure that new members are infused with Lencioni’s thinking, so that everyone stays on the same wavelength.”

“How will you try to keep the accumulated Lencioni capital alive?”

“There are some terms that have become established (e.g., ‘the elephant in the room’) that are appropriately named. Furthermore, the understanding in the team is so good that there is very open communication. We have also made our meetings more efficient.”

“How did you experience working with Trixolutions?”
